Engaging Seniors

Fostering active and healthy lifestyles, promoting social connections, and providing essential services designed to help senior citizens enjoy living independently as they age.

Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.

– Psalm 71:9 NIV

Daily Senior Citizens Program

In North Memphis, the percentage of the population age 60 and older is rising at a much faster rate than all other age groups. The percentage of senior citizens living in the neighborhood has increased by 30% in the past 15 years.

In partnership with the City of Memphis and MIFA, Oasis of Hope runs a daily program in which senior citizens in our neighborhood are thriving with daily activities, programs and social services! Fifty or more men and women ages 60 and older gather at the Bickford Community Center on Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 1:00pm for a hot meal and Bible studies, crafts, social services, field trips, parties, health education and much more.

We provide free transportation to and from the community center each day as well as to doctor appointments as needed.
